Article summary

If the art is obtained from another source, cite it. Refer to Credits and permissions for the different forms of crediting art and photographs.

Important

You must obtain written permission from the copyright holder if the document will be published (on a website, for example). If the work is not for publication, art should still be attributed, but permission to use it is usually unnecessary. The need for permission is based on whether the publisher gains any commercial advantage. If in doubt, play it safe and ask.
